My Approach to Race, Identity, and Culture
When you're looking for a safe, culturally responsive therapist who understands racial identity, cross cultural dynamics, and the impact of systemic racism, it’s important to find someone who practices anti racist therapy. Culturally responsive care begins with the understanding that your race, ethnicity, and cultural background deeply influence how you experience stress, relationships, identity, and healing, and those differences deserve to be seen and respected.
As a white therapist, I believe it's my responsibility, not yours, to ensure therapy is a safe and affirming space for Black and Brown clients.
My approach to racial trauma is grounded in humility, continuous self education, and a commitment to holding space without defensiveness. I recognize the impact of systemic racism and work to support clients by listening deeply, validating lived experiences, and avoiding the harm of minimization or fragility. I aim to co-create a therapeutic relationship where clients can bring their full identities into the room. Feedback is welcome and encouraged as part of a collaborative, healing process.
My Approach to Couples Therapy for Interracial Relationships
As a therapist with a research background in interracial and interfaith relationships, I bring both clinical insight and cultural awareness to this work. Interracial couples often navigate unique dynamics, whether it’s cultural misunderstandings, microaggressions from family or community, or the emotional toll of living in a racialized society. In a city like Chicago and throughout Illinois, interracial couples can face both rich diversity and painful moments of disconnection or invisibility.
My approach is to create a space where each partner’s lived experience is honored, where difficult conversations about race and identity can happen with safety and care, and where the relationship itself is treated as a collaborative, evolving system. I also support couples in exploring how external pressures (like racism, family expectations, or faith differences) impact their bond, and how to build a strong foundation of empathy, resilience, and shared values.

My Approach to Work Stress in Chicago
Burnout isn’t just about being tired, it’s a whole body response to chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, and the feeling that you can’t keep up or meet expectations, no matter how hard you try. Whether you’re a high achieving professional, a caregiver, or navigating hustle culture in tech or healthcare, burnout can leave you feeling numb, anxious, or disconnected from your sense of purpose.
My approach to work stress and burnout includes identifying the root causes, not just the symptoms, so you can start to reclaim your energy, boundaries, and clarity. We’ll explore how perfectionism, people pleasing, or systems of oppression (like racism, sexism, or capitalism) may be contributing to your exhaustion. I especially enjoy working with first generation professionals who are carrying invisible pressures and expectations while trying to create something different.
I work with clients to explore the root of chronic stress, clarify their boundaries, and unlearn the idea that rest must be earned. As a culturally responsive therapist, I understand that career stress doesn’t happen in a vacuum, especially for those who are paving new paths for their families or working in environments where they feel unseen. Together, we’ll name what’s not working, build tools for sustainable change, and work toward healing that doesn’t depend on productivity.
In therapy, we’ll work to reestablish balance, reimagine success on your terms, and build sustainable practices for work and life. Burnout is not a personal failure, it's a signal that something needs to shift, and you don’t have to navigate that shift alone.

My Approach to Grief Counseling
Grief is not a linear process. It can come in waves, linger longer than expected, or reshape your entire identity. Whether you're grieving the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, or a major life transition, therapy offers space to process your pain without judgment or pressure to “move on.”
My approach to grief is compassionate and non rushed. I hold space for the full spectrum of emotions, sadness, anger, guilt, even numbness, while helping you find your own way through. I also work with clients navigating complex or complicated grief, including losses that aren't always acknowledged or understood by others. Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means making space for what you’ve lost while slowly reconnecting with life in a way that honors your experience.

My Approach to Managing Family Conflict in Therapy
Family relationships can be loving and supportive, and also messy, tense, or painful. Whether you're navigating intergenerational dynamics, setting new boundaries, or feeling stuck in cycles of conflict, therapy can help you make sense of your role within the family and shift patterns that no longer serve you.
I take a non blaming, systems based approach to family conflict. That means we’ll explore not just what’s happening now, but also the deeper context: cultural expectations, attachment histories, communication habits, and unspoken rules. For adult children, couples, and families of all shapes and sizes, I work to create a space where your voice matters and change is possible, even if others in your family aren’t part of the therapy process. Together, we’ll build tools for clarity, connection, and healthier boundaries.
